backgrounds and title graphics. A bit fiddly but I’m reasonably pleased with the results. I will probably be back in the next couple of days to do some experiments with links and tabs…..
Day 4
Today I ‘ave mostly been….. sitting on the M1!!
Not much progress today mainly due to being busy driving. After finally being able to open the site yesterday I had a look at in from another computer to discover that of course unless you happen to have downloaded the same fonts as me a lot of the aesthetics are lost!.. So I have updated ’Pretty’ has been updated to replace the text with WordArt and thusly preserve the wording in the intended font. This method has a couple of drawbacks... 1 – the lettering loses it’s crispness, and….. 2 – it makes it very awkward having to combine images and text all over the place…. I’ll have a think and a play before I change the rest of the text with unusual fonts… maybe tomorrow
Day 3
Today I ‘ave mostly been….. fiddling.
Starting to get my head round elements & stuff. I’m liking WebExpress, and have been playing with Photoshop too, seeing what I could do with turning a photo into a background. Check out the ‘Pretty’ page and you can gauge my success for yourself. I won’t apologise for the page name, the intention is to produce a page using several different complimentary backgrounds, and I’d started using the name before I discovered that practically all the photos I’ve got play with are of my little nephew, so I’ve cropped him out of a picture, leaving only me! …. nice
Oh yeah… I finally saw the site this morning!! Had an email from Yahoo something about a cache problem with ntl… anyway it’s sorted now so I can actually check the site for myself!
Day 2
Frames unsuccessful – back to the plainer, functional site.
Logged on this morning to find an email from my mate telling me that the frames attempt had not worked, fortunately I’ve been shuffling older versions of this site into a separate folder just in case (prudent bunny!). So back to the simpler but viewable version.
Software investigation now in progress
I am now playing with MoreMotion Web Express, seems reasonably intuitive, but am having trouble working out how to add the text bit to a graphic text element… and at some point I’ll need to figure out how to turn a project into html/upload it all to the site….. Onwards……
Frames attempt No. 2 – same as before only this time hopefully my mate will look in the right place!!
Still can’t see the site, have sent a query to Yahoo, but nothing yet. Hey ho!
Web Express – 1st creation upload
Well here it is! If you allow the blocked content you’ll see the buttons change colour when you point on them (well it impressed me, little things and all that!??!). I’m still using Word to format the text and creating the title text by using WordArt then saving the document as html then copying the gif file that it creates (a little bit convoluted, must be an easier way, but it works which is the main thing). Oh yeah, and the ‘Back to Top’ button in the log is a bit of cheat as it reopens the page rather than just scrolling to the top. A little more investigation is needed I think.
I’ll have a look in a bit and find out whether or not I can access the site yet.
Frames attempt No. 2 – was apparently a success!.... but no, I still can’t see the site myself
Next I’m going to see how easy it is if you want to just change a couple of things and then republish it.
Another success! It was so easy I’m doing it again…… now with page titles.
